Air Mattress inflation ???

Inflating an air mattress is generally a simple task. What could go wrong? Well, Ole's wife began inflating the mattress, anticipating a comfortable nights sleep on night one of the Lee's Ferry adventure. Using the convenient DC outlet at the rear of the Xterra,she began filling it with air. The mattress was filling just fine, and because the process is kinda slow, her attention diverted to the steep canyon walls around her. The sudden pop, whoosh and mattress deflation refocused her attention. The mattress , with ever increasing pressure, was pushing against the sharp end of the plastic tent stake Ole' had previously broken and neglected to remove. Poor Ole'! A quick search for a patch kit turned up empty. Now what? Ole' found a partial roll of electical tape and bandaids in the first aid kit. So, a crumpled up plastic shopping bag stuffed into the hole, a plastic sandwich bag placed over the hole as a patch, bandaids and electrical tape to seal the deal. The thought was " I'll be amazed if THIS works", but moved the mattress away from the stake, fired up the air pump and filled the mattress. Topped it off before bed each night and the dream of a comfortable nights sleep was essentially realized. Ole' mostly dodged that bullet!!!
